Supporting artists of the global majority and the telling of their stories.

Checkmark Productions is a New York based production company with a mission to create a home for artists of the global majority to develop new work in community with likeminded collaborators.

Checkmark supports artists’ personal and professional growth through the development of both theater and film. To do so, we provide space and resources to further develop new works, and to more fairly compensate artists at an hourly rate of $26/hour. At Checkmark, our budget is a statement of our values, and we hope that by providing salary transparency, we can encourage institutions across the industry to hold themselves to a higher standard, and to pay artists equitably.

Whether through our annual Summer Reading Series, our upcoming residencies and workshops, or our consistent, community outreach, supporting artists of color and their stories will always be our focus. In doing so, we create a culture that supports connection, while challenging the limits of storytelling.
